Brazil on Saturday was dealt an enormous setback when center-back Alex Telles and forward Gabriel Jesus were both ruled out for the remaining FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar due to an injury to their knees in the final match of the team against Cameroon. But later that next day Brazil received a wonderful bit of news from their fans, as Neymar returned to training with the team in preparation for their Round of 16 matches with South Korea on Monday.
Neymar was repeatedly fouled during Brazil’s opening game against Serbia before he was limped off the field due to an injury to his ankle. He was unable to play the following two fixtures for Brazil because he injured ligaments in his right ankle.
However, he went back to training alongside the squad on Saturday. He then went on Instagram to post an update. “I am feeling great,” Neymar said in an update on Instagram. “I knew I’d do it be feeling good, but now.”
Neymar experienced a casual training session with players who were not included in the match against Cameroon. According to a set of images released by the Brazilian soccer federation Neymar took part in a handful of drills, and kicked the ball with both feet, not showing any signs of injury.
The team’s medical staff are waiting to announce an update regarding his fitness for the game with South Korea.
Brazil is hoping to win the world cup for the first time. World Cup title in two decades. In the 2018 World Cup in Russia, they were knocked out of the tournament by Belgium in the last quarterfinals.
